What Reiki is....

Reiki is a system of healing that is non-invasive with no side effects. Its Japanese meaning is “spiritually guided life force energy.” It is neither a religion nor do you have to subscribe to any religious belief in order for it to be effective for you. It is simply making use of the energy that is already within us. The heat that we give off is energy. Reiki works with that energy. It is a compliment to the care you receive from your massage therapist and/or your health care provider. Reiki is practiced by many people all over the world in many different forms. There is even a very good chance that there is a community of practitioners in your area.

As we all know, there are stresses all around us everyday. Over time, too much stress causes our immune system to weaken and exacerbates pain and other ailments. Through the supplement of Reiki, your ability to handle stress should increase and you should notice an improvement in how you feel.

Also, be especially mindful of your stress level during the Winter Season. A typical holiday season entails holiday-shopping traffic jams, attending holiday parties, including eating a lot of sugary treats (just to name a few things). Refined sugar suppresses your immune system for several hours after consumption. So if you’re running all over town to find that “perfect” gift, you’re battling traffic and you’re worried about making it to the store before it closes; your immune system will really take a beating.
